OPM begins notifying victims of recent data breach
October 08, 2015
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has sent out formal letters outlining necissary steps for employees to take in response to the recent cyber attack on OPM databases.
Last June, OPM announced that a cyber attack had leaked Social Security numbers and the background records of more than 21.5 million current and past federal employees, federal job applicants, and federal contractors.
Within these steps include identity theft protection and credit monitoring services that will be provided for at least three years, at no cost, to impacted individuals and to their dependent minor children.
